Hello
everyone ..
On
this occasion I am still discussing international journals that I discussed
earlier. What is the title? The title is Picture Word Induuctive Model: Its
Effectiveness to Teach Writing Viewed from Students' interests by Rahayu
Meliasari, Ngadiso and Sri Marmanto.
Before
we discussed the Literature Rivew section. So this opportunity will continue.
The next part is Method of Research. Let's see... ^_^
3. Method of
Research
The main view of quantitative studies is that
researchers advance the relationship between variables and propose this in
terms of questions or hypotheses (Philips and Burbules, 2000). Regarding the
focus of this study, researchers used experimental studies. In this study,
researchers used a 2x2 factorial design for efficiency, with a multifactor
analysis of variance (ANOVA) technique. This is the simplest form of factorial
design. Gall, Gall, & Borg (2007) suggest that the expression 2 x 2 means
that two variations of one factor (A1 and A2) and two variations of other
factors (B1 and B2) are manipulated at the same time. Cohen, Manion, and
Marrison (2007) suggested a similar idea that factorial design is useful for
testing the effects of interactions.
In this study using a post-test only design, the two
groups of subjects were first assigned to different treatments or control
conditions. The experimental group will be taught using Picture Word Inductive
Model (PWIM), while the control group will be taught using Controlled Writing
Strategy (CWS). At the end of treatment, the experimental and control groups
will be given a post-test in the form of a written test. With the ultimate goal
will find out how the influence of PWIM in the task given.
And the subject of this study was handled using
cluster random sampling. There were two classes officially registered in this
study, which consisted of 26 students from each class. Data were obtained from
writing tests and questionnaires. The form of the test is an essay. To test
writing skills, there are five main components that need to be considered,
namely content, organization, vocabulary, grammar, and communication. Regarding
the data from the questionnaire, it was categorized into four categories adapted
from the Likert Scale: strongly agree, agree, disagree, strongly disagree to
express the level of interest of students. By using a questionnaire,
researchers will classify students into only two: high levels of interest and
low levels of interest.
About data analysis, carried out using descriptive
and inferential analysis. First and foremost, the data were analyzed using
descriptive analysis to find out the mean, mean, mode, standard deviation,
histogram, and polygon of the students' written values. Meanwhile, the use of
inferential statistics is to test the research hypothesis. Before carrying out
further analysis of 2x2 ANOVA, the authors used a prerequisite test, in which
tests for normality and homogeneity were assigned previously. As a result of ANOVA
revealed that there was interaction; Therefore, the analysis was continued by
using the Tukey HSD Test.
That
is the method of research in this journal research.
Next
opportunity I will discuss the part after this.
See
you soon ... ^ _ ^
